Scholarship overview

The SOAS Master’s Scholarships (International) are designed to recognise and award overseas applicants with outstanding academic performance.

SOAS awards over 60 International Master’s Scholarships each year to students from over 30 countries. Each scholarship is valued at £5,000 and acts as a fee waiver. 

Eligibility criteria

  • Must hold an offer for a full-time Postgraduate Taught (on campus) programme.
  • Must be an overseas fee-paying student.
  • Minimum UK upper second-class (2:1) or international equivalent.
  • The NLUD-SOAS Joint LLM/MA in Environmental Justice in South Asia and the Shiv Nadar IoE-SOAS Joint MA Global Urban Sociology programmes are not eligible for this scholarship.

Please note, if you have applied for a 2-year Masters, the scholarship will be eligible towards the first year of tuition fees.

How to apply

Applicants can apply for the International Scholarship via the online form. You should save a copy of your application form for your records. If you wish to print a copy of the application form please do so before clicking SUMBIT.

If you applied as part of the earlier rounds of the International Postgraduate Scholarship and are not successful, you will automatically be considered for subsequent rounds of funding. Please do not submit more than one scholarship application. 

Application deadline

This scholarship is now open for 2025/2026

  • The deadline for the first round of scholarships is the 28 February 2025 GMT+00:00
  • The deadline for the second round of scholarships is the 30 April 2025 BST+23:59
  • The deadline for the third round of scholarships is the 30 June 2025 BST+23:59

Notification of results

Successful applicants with an offer to study at SOAS will be notified within 10 working days of each deadline. This means that for the third round of scholarships successful applicants will be notified by Friday 11 July 2025

If you are successful and allocated the International Postgraduate Scholarship, you will be required to pay the CAS deposit of £4000 as part of the conditions to accept the award. Please note that the CAS deposit is only refundable in a limited set of circumstances

It is important to be mindful of this if you are accepting the International Postgraduate Scholarship with a conditional offer.
