Biography
Abraham Lartey is an economist and currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre for Sustainable Structural Transformation (CSST).
He earned his PhD in Economics (summa cum laude) in July 2022. His doctoral thesis investigates the economic development effects of fiscal windfalls, focusing on the macroeconomic impact of natural resource windfalls and the microeconomic impact of Chinese development finance.
Prior to joining CSST, he was a research fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Resources, University College London. In this role, he contributed to the economic impact assessment of major energy and climate policies for the UK's Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (formerly the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy). He was also part of the team that scoped the methodological framework for the future evaluation of the UK's Green Economic Stimulus Package.
Abraham has practical policy experience with key international institutions such as the World Bank, where he was an Africa Research Fellow, and the International Monetary Fund, where he worked as a PhD Intern.
