The 132nd International ARC Seminar brings together two experts to discuss Japanese Art. This event is organised by the Art Research Center (ARC), Ritsumeikan University, SOAS Japan Research Centre, and SOAS Centre for Translation Studies.
Programme
- Contemporary Interpretations of Ukiyo-e by Dr Monika Hinkel (SOAS)
Dr Monika Hinkel studied Japanese Studies, Oriental Art History and Political Science at Bonn University. She wrote her PhD thesis on the topic of the Japanese print artist Toyohara Kunichika and the influence of bunmei kaika (civilisation and enlightenment) on his prints.
