SOAS Centre for Iranian Studies in collaboration with the Persian Manuscripts Association, cordially invites you to this inaugural lecture.

This lecture examines lajvardina vessels within the broader context of the Ilkhanid aesthetic, and investigates how the interplay between ceramics and manuscript paintings can enhance our understanding of both media.

About the speaker

Dr Richard Piran McClary is a Senior Lecturer in Islamic Art and Architecture at the University of York. His latest monograph, Mina’i Ware: A Reassessment and Comprehensive Study of Iranian Polychrome Overglaze Wares through Sherds (2024) has recently been published by Edinburgh University Press.
