The Department of Development Studies and the Development Leadership Dialogue Institute are pleased to be hosting a conversation with Ambassador Staur on bilateral aid, the role of the DAC-OECD and the future of ODA.

About the speaker

Ambassador Staur is Chair of the DAC, of OECD's Development Assistance Committee (DAC), the leading international forum for bilateral providers of development aid. Ambassador Staur has a long history and experience of working on global development at the highest level having served as Denmark's Minister for International Development Cooperation, heading up Danida; and many years as Denmark's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva and New York. 

He has chaired the boards of UNDP, UNFPA, UNOPS, and the Global Fund, as well as a member of the ouncil of the International Organisation for Migration.

Discussant: Tamsyn Barton, Chief Commissioner, Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI). The ICAI scrutinises UK aid spending to ensure it is spent effectively.
