Dr Rachel Harrison (Thai Cultural Studies), Dr Lindiwe Dovey (Film Studies) and Dr Rahul Rao (Politics & Queer Theory) will be discussing Apichatpong's recent output, including short clips. Biography
Apichatpong Weerastakul’s recent cinematographic output includes the Palme d'Or winner at Cannes Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives - ลุงบุญมีระลึกชาติ, The Cannes Jury Prize winner Tropical Malady - สัตว์ประหลาด - and Syndromes and a Century - แสงศตวรรษ - which was premiered at the 63rd Venice Film Festival - the first Thai film to be entered in competition there. He was invested as a Chevalier (Knight) of the Order of Arts & Letters by France, and is a recipient of the Silpathorn Prize of Thailand.
