About this event

SOAS ‘Black History: Our History’ Conference – a free event for Year 12/13s on 17 February 2023

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Black History Conference, continuing the Black History Month celebrations that commenced earlier this academic year. As it is the 35th anniversary of celebrating Black history in the UK we have organised a day long conference for Year 12 and 13s to mark this significant occasion.

The theme of this year’s Black History Conference is ‘Black History, Our History’, and as part of the conference we will be working with incredible facilitators to deliver a series of workshops around the following key themes: belonging, celebrating diversity, intersectionality and community. Topics will include the African philosophy of Ubuntu, art connected to belonging, black literature and many more.

The day will include a key-note speech, interactive workshops and a campus tour. Lunch will also be provided.

  • Date: Friday 17 February 2023
  • Time: 10:00am  3:30pm
  • Location: This event is taking place on the SOAS campus
