About this event
Please join us in an online collaborative workshop transcribing Tagbanwa inscriptions on a 1906 bamboo vessel stored at the RJM Museum in Germany.
The hour and a half session will begin with an introduction to the script by Prof Myfel Paluga, to be followed by an interactive transcription workshop led by Prof Paluga using the sample text.
With your help, we are intending to translate the inscription, and correct the metadata for this object. We will provide these corrections to the Mapping Philippine Material Culture site and also correct RJM's records. (right now the records say these inscriptions are Mangyan).
You can have a look at high resolution photos of the vessel in advance here .
For resources on the script, you may refer to Myfel Payuga's article in 3 Baybayin Studies (3 Baybayin Studies By Guillermo, Ramon et. al. UP Press 2017)
Christopher Miller also has a recent paper that can also be shared to the participants, as a good introductory essay .
