Biography
Dr. Hsiao-wen Lee is a research associate in The Centre for Taiwan Studies at SOAS. Prior to SOAS, she used to teach at University of Nottingham, University of West London and University of Leicester. She is currently a teaching fellow at the University of Southampton. Her PhD was in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Westminster and her MA in Journalism is from National Chengchi University, Taiwan. Her research focus is the area of media production, media law as well as media and cultural policy. In Taiwan, before coming to the UK, she was an experienced journalist, presenter and news editor for over 10 years working in different media formats, ranging from TV broadcasting through to national newspapers and magazine publications. Along side her academic research she maintains her journalistic experience as a columnist for UDN Global and Taiwan People News.
