Biography

Matteo Giordano is an economist and political economist, currently holding the position of Lecturer in economics in the Department of Economics at SOAS University of London.

He holds a BSc from SOAS and an MSc from the LSE, where he studied orthodox and heterodox economics as well as political economy. His main areas of interest are European Political Economy, Financialisation, Financial and Monetary Macroeconomics, International Economics, and History of Economic Thought. He is most fascinated by the monetary system, especially monetary unions, of which he tends to focus on the Eurozone and the CFA Franc.

His current projects include research on Subordination in the EMU, modeling of financial Macro-Structures and Debt Management, and the assessment of the Global Financial Crisis and the Eurozone Crisis through changing financial architectures. He primarily works with time series and panel data, especially using VAR and SEM models. He is happy to consult or discuss any projects on pertinent topics. 

He is a member of the European Research Network on Economic and Social Policy (EReNSEP) and of the Young Scholars Initiative (YSI, of INET).
