Feminist Centre for Racial Justice awarded a $1 million multi-year grant

The Feminist Centre for Racial Justice (FCRJ), founded in September 2022 with a core grant from Ford Foundation has been awarded a three-year $1 million (USD) grant by the Open Society Foundation (OSF) Africa.

Founding Director of the Centre, Dr Awino Okech said: "The OSF Africa grant will enable the centre launch its activities at scale, cultivate partnerships in Africa, Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean in a substantive way and help us begin to meet our change making ambitions. We are excited by the possibilities the OSF Africa grant offers for contributing to building just feminist futures."

The Feminist Centre will contribute to building a cadre of scholars, scholar activists and scholarship in four main ways: doctoral scholarships, post-doctoral fellowships, transnational collaborative action research projects and movement building schools. In five years, they will develop a body transdisciplinary scholarship that focusses on racial justice by understanding solidarity practices, communities of resistance and social transformation.
