SOAS economist listed as one of the world’s top thinkers in Prospect Magazine

A SOAS expert has been nominated as one of the world’s top thinkers by Prospect Magazine for 2025, an accolade that spotlights individuals for their ideas and impact on the wider world. 

Professor Daniela Gabor studies development and the climate crisis from a critical macrofinance perspective, paying attention to the strategies and growing power of Big Finance to occupying transformative state projects. Professor Gabor has also served as an expert advisor to the European Parliament, the G20 under the Brazil Presidency, and the United Nations 4th Financing for Development Agenda, providing key insights to civil society organisations and central banks.

Speaking on her nomination, Professor Gabor added: “It’s a great honour to be recognised with other prestigious minds who are also paving the way in shaping the world as we know it. I’m proud to share in the efforts of SOAS, playing an active role in overcoming global economic challenges and supporting our students with a practical approach to learning.”
