Biography
Sharowat Shamin is a doctoral researcher of energy law, climate change and development, and a fixed-term academic at the SOAS School of Law. She is also an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Sharowat has been teaching law at public and private universities since January 2012. She did her LLM in International Environmental and Energy Law at the University of Oslo, Norway with a fully funded Norwegian Government Quota Scheme Scholarship. Earlier she completed another LLM in International and Comparative Law and an LLB (Honours) at the University of Dhaka.
Sharowat has been a legal research team member at the Center for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL) since 2013 and also a member of the Climate Change Law, Compliance and Enforcement team of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law. She has been a consultant at various national and international human rights and environmental rights NGOs. She has also been an enrolled Advocate being permitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and a member of the Dhaka Bar Association since 2012.
Sharowat is a 2021 Commonwealth PhD Scholar. She is particularly interested in energy law, climate change, and constitutional law. She has been contributing to journal articles, book chapters and other research projects on these topics.
