Course overview

Course aim

This course aims to build on the knowledge and skills gained during the Elementary level. Students will do extensive reading about topics such as Thai food, university education and Thai politics. The course aims to build a more extensive vocabulary and improve all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). As the course progresses, it aims to provide you with further confidence and vocabulary to discuss more complex topics, write and read more challenging texts in the language. This course is delivered by the Language Centre.

Method

All texts are provided in Thai script and come with lists of useful vocabulary. Students will also learn conversational skills by acting out situational role-plays such as booking flights, seeing a doctor or attending a job interview. You are expected to attend regularly, participate in class and complete homework regularly to ensure learning progress. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor.

The course objectives will be achieved within the 10-week course. This will be achieved through 20 hours of blended learning: this is composed of 15 hours of online structured lessons with the teacher. This is supplemented by a minimum of 5 hours of guided independent learning supported by complementary material and regular feedback from the tutor.

Material

Thai Pre-Intermediate materials are provided by the teacher.
