Christoph von Fürer-Haimendorf Fund
The primary purpose of the Fürer-Haimendorf Fund is to support research undertaken by SOAS anthropology doctoral students. Professor von Fürer-Haimendorf was a pioneer of the anthropology of South and South East Asia and an innovator in the use of film and photography as ethnographic tools.
Eligibility
Support is available for those students wishing to work in the same areas as Professor von Fürer-Haimendorf ,whose research focuses on the cultures and societies of South and South East Asia and plan to use digital methods of ethnographic documentation.
Funding is available for covering the costs of fieldwork or travel associated with the PhD.
Application and deadline
To apply, submit a project proposal of 500 words max. and a budget by 14th June 2024 to the Departmental Director of Doctoral Studies. The amount and number of awards the selection committee will be in position to award each year will depend on the number and quality of applicants.
