Abstract
My mission is to revive the spirit of traditional Japanese culture in today's modern education system in Japan. I will talk about the methods of teaching, contents, and significance of traditional Japanese culture in the world today.
Speaker Biography
Prof Masaya Iwasaki was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1959 and graduated with BA in 1982 and an MA in 1954 from the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Architecture at Waseda University. Prof Iwasaki was at Uchii Shozo Architect and Associates before becoming an Associate Professor at Kogakkan University in the Faculty for Study of Contemporary Japanese Society in 2010. He is currently a Visiting Scholar at the SOAS Japan Research Centre and a student at the University of Oxford. His areas of research are Japanese Traditional Culture and its Education; Architecture, Handicraft, and Performing Arts; The Way of Tea, Flower, and Incense.
