Course overview
The purpose of the course is to provide the learners with enough linguistic knowledge and language skills as well as motivation and confidence to hold a basic conversation and to manipulate the language in situations where Turkish is used.
It also aims to enable the learners to read and understand basic texts as well as write their own ones. As the course progresses, the learners become gradually equipped with further confidence and vocabulary/structures to discuss more complex topics, write, and read more challenging texts in the target language.
Method
The course is taught in Turkish and English including language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Moreover, a variety of materials from a variety of resources are used and this is followed by guided practice and production opportunities individually, in pairs / small groups. You are expected to attend regularly, participate in class and complete homework regularly to ensure learning progress. Watching films, listening to music and reading books in Turkish outside class is highly encouraged in order to increase language/exposure.
This will be achieved through 20 hours of blended learning: this is composed of 15 hours of online structured lessons with the teacher. This is supplemented by a minimum of 5 hours of guided independent learning supported by complementary material. The course objective will be achieved within the 10-week course.
