Course overview

Method
The course is taught in English and Turkish, and a variety of materials and sources are used provided by the teacher.
The course begins by revising what has been covered in beginner level with mechanical and communicative activities. Then it continues to cover more structures and more theme-based lexical items with an increasing emphasis on the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
In class, the learners are encouraged to interact with each other using Turkish gradually, practising the structure and lexical items learnt in pairs or in small groups. Outside class, the learners are encouraged to revise what has been taught, do homework and watch videos and films, read books, or listen to music in Turkish to make sure their exposure to the language and culture continues.
This will be achieved through 20 hours of blended learning: this is composed of 15 hours of online structured lessons with the teacher. This is supplemented by a minimum of 5 hours guided independent learning supported by complementary material. The course objective will be achieved within the 10-week course.
At the end of the course, there is a revision and consolidation. There is no formal assessment, but an informal evaluation of the learners’ levels is done through in- class participation and homework checked by the teacher
